SignaturesDB

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? The install guides cover each email client in detail.

Is SignaturesDB really free?

Yes. Every template and feature is free for personal and commercial use. There is no account, trial or credit card. By default a small “Created with signaturesdb.com” link appears under your signature to help others find the tool, and you can switch it off with one click in the Copy & install panel.

Can I remove the “Created with signaturesdb.com” link?

Yes. Switch off “Add a small Created with signaturesdb.com link” above the copy buttons and it disappears from the copied signature, the HTML code and the download. Leaving it on is a free way to support the project.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Your draft is saved automatically in your browser's local storage on this device. Use “Backup” to download a copy you can restore on another computer.

Which email clients are supported?

Signatures are built with nested tables and inline styles, the most widely supported email HTML. We provide installation steps for Gmail, Outlook (new, web, classic Windows and Mac), Apple Mail, Yahoo Mail and Thunderbird. Rendering differs slightly between clients; the guides list known differences.

Why doesn't my uploaded photo or logo show up for recipients?

Email clients can only show images hosted on a public https:// address. An image you upload is cropped in your browser and shown in the preview, but it is left out of the copied signature until it is hosted. Paste a public image URL (from your website, for example) or, if this site has hosting enabled, click “Host image publicly”.

Why are images not embedded directly in the signature?

Embedded (base64) images are stripped or shown as attachments by Gmail, Outlook and many mobile apps, and they bloat every email you send. Hosted images are the reliable approach, so SignaturesDB never embeds local images in exported signatures.

Why do my rounded photos look square in Outlook?

Classic Outlook for Windows uses Microsoft Word to render email and ignores rounded corners (border-radius). The initials avatar stays round everywhere because its shape is part of the image. For uploaded photos, you can crop a circle into a transparent PNG before uploading it, or accept square corners in that client.

Where do the social icons come from?

Social and contact icons are small PNG images served from this website, in the shape and color you choose. Email clients don't support SVG icons, so PNGs are the compatible choice. If you'd rather not load any images, switch social links to text in the Style tab.

What happens to my data?

Your details stay in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server unless you click “Host image publicly”, which uploads only that cropped image. There are no tracking pixels in your signature and no analytics unless the site owner explicitly enables a privacy-friendly provider.

Can I use my own fonts?

Only fonts installed on your recipients' devices display reliably in email, so SignaturesDB offers web-safe fonts with fallbacks (for example Georgia, Times New Roman, serif). This keeps your signature looking consistent everywhere.

How do I create signatures for my whole team?

Create one signature, download a backup, then restore it and change the details for each person. Each person can copy their signature from the preview or from the downloaded .html file.
